Our charity Sunday was a great success; the support for the Peter McVerry Trust was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, for those playing in the morning, the weather was bad. Those playing in the afternoon were luckier, as it turned out to be a very nice evening for golf. There was a great buzz around the clubhouse and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.
The generosity of our members and guests was amazing. We raised the staggering amount of €20,700 for the Trust. They said it was the largest amount ever raised for them by a golf classic.
They are very grateful to DLGC for this large donation. Gareth Crowe, Corporate and Major Gift Fundraising Manager, of the Peter McVerry Trust, attended the dinner and presentation and said they have considerable challenges ahead, both as an organisation trying to survive as well as continuing the work they do in supporting the homeless in our society.
Captains, Charles and Liz met with Fr. McVerry and personally handed over the cheque last week. The captains would like to thank Malachy Scally, Mary Cryan, David Mc Dermott, Siobhan O’Kelly and Pam Cooper for organizing the event.
We would like to thank our sponsors, members and friends most sincerely for your contribution to this very successful fund raising event.
